Two travellers, one shophouse table

Al and Natalie have made Singapore home for over 20 years — avid travellers and foodies who bring the whole Mediterranean to one table in Joo Chiat.

OUR STORY

We built @59JCT to feel like a long meal at a friend's home — Mediterranean food, shared slowly, in a restored shophouse where every guest is welcomed personally.

Meet Al

Nearly 35 years in the family kitchen

Al's family, of Spanish descent, spent generations in colonial Morocco before migrating to France, where he was born. Festive food growing up was mostly Moroccan or Provençal — and he holds those traditional family recipes close to his heart.

Since then he has explored and cooked across the whole Mediterranean, bringing dishes you won't easily find in Singapore to the @59JCT table.

Meet Natalie

The hostess with the mostest

Natalie is from Hong Kong but has grown to love Mediterranean food. She trained as a junior chef at the Westin Shanghai's Italian kitchen before moving front of house and launching the Westin's first award-winning brunch over 20 years ago.

Her career has taken many turns since, but her gift for hosting hasn't changed — she's the warm welcome that makes every evening at @59JCT feel like home.

THE SETTING

A restored Peranakan shophouse

@59JCT lives in a beautifully restored shophouse in the heart of Joo Chiat — a characterful home of vivid colour, Peranakan detail and a Moroccan-themed rooftop terrace.

It's a space that has welcomed private dinners, parties, cooking classes, team offsites and film shoots alike — and been featured by Stacked Homes and Business Insider for its design.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

How we host

i

Sharing first

Food is meant to be shared. Every menu is built for the table, not the individual plate.

ii

Tailored to you

Each menu changes with the season, the occasion and your group — never off a fixed script.

iii

Unhurried & personal

From the house tour to the mint tea, you're hosted personally, with time to simply enjoy.

AS FEATURED IN

Come share our table

Whether it's an intimate dinner, a party, a cooking class or a team day — we'd love to host you.
